Why Do I Work For Hoodoo Digital?

Peter Nash • Jul 10, 2019

In a previous article, I talked about why someone would want to work for Hoodoo Digital. I extolled the virtues and offerings of our company, the incidentals if you will. And it struck me, why don’t we share some of the reasons that our employees actually choose to work here? So, here are a few of our employees sharing some of the main reasons why they choose to work for Hoodoo Digital.

Nisha Williams

Remote work. Hands down, Nisha’s main motivator was the ability to do her work from home. Being the mother of 3 active boys of varying ages can be stressful when they all have so many things going on. Having the flexibility to put in a full days work and still keep focused on being a mom gives her the peace of mind she needs. Additionally, “knowing that I can take time off when my family needs it, allows me the confidence to trust this company, and do my best to help it succeed.”

Nathan Vought

Nathan wanted to work with a team that cares about staying up on the latest technology, and even innovating on it. While employed by another company, he attended an AEM meetup group where the founders, Kem Elbrader and Andy Wakefield, were talking about their new AEM DevOps tool, AEM Cloud. Seeing that they were trying to innovate on the AEM platform to improve the process of using it made an impression. It was clear that they knew the ins and outs of the software so well as to be able to create secondary products that support and enhance it. “I like that the people I am working for know where the ship is going and how the ship works.”

Jon Baddley

Jon had been working closely with Kem and Andy for many years, helping to ink hundreds of Adobe Marketing Cloud deals. Understanding how the three worked as a team and how they complimented each other became a large selling point when Jon considered joining Hoodoo. He knew they would be successful at building a nimble team of highly skilled and knowledgeable AEM experts. “I want to improve on the work that I have been doing with Kem and Andy for over the past 10 years, and I was excited for the opportunity to help build something that was going to be unique in the digital marketing technology space.”

Patrick Eccles

Confident in the team he would be joining at Hoodoo, Patrick didn’t have to think hard about the decision to join. Intrigued with the idea of working on Connectors or developing new technologies was an incentive for him, as he felt like he was stuck on a project at his previous company with no real opportunity to move. He already knew most of the people working here and felt completely comfortable in the change. “I like to explore new things. And knowing that I wouldn’t be working on just another AEM implementation was a big draw.”

Madeline Luke

Fresh out of college and looking to grow her knowledge of Content Management Systems, Maddi was introduced to the founders of Hoodoo by a mutual friend. Upon interviewing with them she liked that they were willing to hire her straight out of college rather than insist that she have many years of experience in Adobe Experience Manager. Knowing that they were willing to invest time and energy to bring her up to speed with AEM helped her trust them. “I felt comfortable in making the decision to join the team because I could tell that they believed in me.”

Austin Bennett

Ownership in a project is a big deal to Austin. Having worked at larger corporations, he has felt like he was treated as just a replaceable cog on many projects and that he wasn’t appreciated for the work he did. He likes knowing that his work is integral to the success of the project, and the company as a whole. The feeling that a small, more lean, team brings. “I felt stale at my previous company, and I could tell that Hoodoo was being proactive in the market, instead of reactive. I wanted to be part of that.”

We’re very proud of our team and grateful that they work with us. Do you work with a great team of dedicated and motivated Adobe Experience Manager specialists?
